IMS Measurement Modules: Measurement and evaluation of external PPS or 10 MHz signals, power line frequencies and network latencies.

Product Image IMS Measurement Modules

IMS modules to perform measurements of, among others, mains frequencies in 50/60Hz power supply networks, measurements of 1PPS signals or 10 MHz frequencies.

  • IMS-FDM is used to calculate the mains frequency and to monitor the frequency deviation and drift in 50/60 Hz networks.
  • IMS-PIO measures the offset from an external reference against the highly accurate time of the internal oscillator with an accuracy of 5ns.
  • IMS-HPS for evaluating the measurement results of monitored network nodes.

Real Time Measurements with SyncMonitor
Meinberg’s SyncMonitor performs real time measurements using its built-in highly accurate clock to determine the time error of NTP and PTP clients as well as performing low-nanosecond level measurements of PPS signals.

The web-based application is available on LANTIME and IMS models running LTOS V6 and V7. PTP monitoring is possible by using a HPS100 module which is configured to run in monitoring mode.

In addition to individual diagrams and the SyncMap, the NetSync Monitor application can generate reports directly out of the web interface. The reports are based on the obtained measurement data and can be used to document the sync performance of a node or a group of nodes.

Overview: IMS Measurement Modules

IMS-PIO

Versatile I/O module for output and measurement of PPS and 10 MHz signals
The four I/O ports of the IMS-PIO module (PIO=Programmable Input/Output) can be used as inputs as well as outputs. Primarily, the module was developed to perform measurements of e.g. PPS signals of external systems against the internal reference time.

High Precision Synchronization
The new generation of the Meinberg time stamping unit provides a future-proof platform for your IEEE 1588 / SyncE / Carrier Grade NTP infrastructure. The high-performance dual-core processor, the 1-step master clock and the 1GE interface with SFP slot supports a very large number of PTP clients.

IMS-FDM
The IMS-FDM is used to measure the grid frequency of an input AC voltage for grids with a nominal frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz. It also serves to monitor frequency deviations and maintains a "power line time" on this basis. This time of day is kept in relation to the accurate reference time maintained by the IMS system to enable a 'drift' value to be calculated that provides a representation of how the frequency of the input AC voltage deviates over time.
