Synchronize your Broadcast Applications with modularity and flexibility


For its Intelligent Modular Synchronization (IMS) series, Meinberg developed modules for video synchronization input, video signal generation, and studio clock generation.

Meinberg IMS product range's modularity concept allows fulfilling simple and demanding synchronization requirements of the Broadcasting industry. Standardized form factors and backplane interfaces allow swapping modules and components between all members of the IMS family. With the wide range of available I/O modules, the user can set up an IMS system to provide any combination of sync signal interfaces.

Meinberg Audio and Video Broadcast Solutions

The new video signal generation module VSG181 is now available and the successor of the VSG180 that will still be available for some time. The VSG181 provides new signal formats like NTSC Black Burst with VITC (Vertical Interval Timecode) support and additional LTC (Linear Time Code) formats. This module also includes an on-board OCXO to ensure safe signal changeovers in chassis with redundant clocks.

The video signal input card VSI180 provides video signals as a reference to an IMS clock/receiver module. The module can process Black Burst (PAL) with VITC or Prescaler Mode (frequency only), LTC with 25 frames per second and programmable Word Clock rates. The VSI module also has an input interface for 1PPS to synchronize the receiver module.

The IMS SCG Module in its U-variant generates various Word Clock rates for studio applications. Another variant of the SCG is the SCG-B (SCG-B Studio Clock Generator Balanced) card for generating "Digital Audio Reference Signals" (DARS, AES11 standard). The 25pin D-Sub female connector provides four symmetrical DARS outputs, which are configurable via the web interface.

Meinberg's IMS series offers built-in redundancy for synchronization sources, power supplies, and cooling in combination with highly modular slot based chassis, which supports hot-swapping and field-expansion capabilities.
