Meinberg Launches New Version of PTP Track Hound

Meinberg is pleased to announce the release of the latest version of its popular PTP monitoring solution, PTP Track Hound v2, re-designed from the ground up with a multitude of new enterprise-grade features and enhancements.

Chief among these new features is the vastly improved networking support that not only enables PTP traffic to be collected close to the PTP clocks and forwarded to other PTP Track Hound instances, but also allows the web-based user interface to be remotely accessed from any network device equipped with a standard web browser. This allows users to reliably monitor PTP traffic from a single workstation, even when that traffic comes from multiple sources in larger networks with multiple subnets.

PTP Track Hound v2 also provides support for automated SNMP traps, syslog logging, and email notifications to enable network administrators to be promptly informed and quickly intervene as necessary. A powerful REST API also provides application developers with the resources needed to directly acquire data from PTP Track Hound instances and perform remote configuration actions as necessary.

This powerful monitoring tool is the brainchild of project developer Thomas Behn, who maintains a ongoing, direct, cordial, and constructive dialog with many of PTP Track Hound's end users to ensure that the software is geared directly to real needs. "Since the first version of Track Hound was released way back in 2017, many users have contacted me directly not only to express their appreciation for the software, but also to provide valuable feedback," he said when asked about the philosophy guiding the development of v2. "Community interest in and support for Track Hound has been hugely encouraging, and so it was only right that Version 2 should be developed with a clear focus on the needs of its users based on their direct input."

Meinberg will be providing a live demonstration of the power of PTP Track Hound v2 at ITSF 2022 in Düsseldorf from November 7-10 to show just how capable this software truly is.

Three licensing levels are provided for absolute flexibility. A free version is offered as before and provides significant improvements over v1, while Basic and Professional licenses provide additional enterprise-grade features intended to be used in medium and large-sized networks.
