Disposing of Old Appliances with Meinberg's Assistance

Disposal of old appliances by Meinberg

Our Waste Equipment Recycling Process

Meinberg systems are manufactured using high-quality materials so that our units can operate reliably on a continuous basis over the course of a long service life. Eventually, however, your Meinberg system will reach the end of its useful life, and you will need to consider how to dispose of it. If you need help with this, you can also contact us, and we will be pleased to help with the recycling process.

The following must be taken into consideration when disposing of a Meinberg system:

  • Disposal of Lithium Batteries
Many of our systems feature components such as timing signal receivers (GNSS, DCF77, IRIG time code). These receiver modules are always equipped with a lithium battery, which you should please always remove before returning a decommissioned device to us. Information on how to remove a battery from our appliances is provided here.

If you are unable to remove the battery from the appliance, you must label the parcel as hazardous goods when shipping it.
  • Disposal in Accordance with WEEE Directive
Our products are subject to the labeling requirements of the European Union Directive (2012/19/EU) on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and are marked with the WEEE symbol (usually found on the serial number label). This symbol indicates that our electronic products must go through the prescribed recycling process at the end of their useful life.
  • Deletion of Personal Data
Our time server systems (LANTIME, microSync) are equipped with a storage medium. Please ensure that all personal data (names, addresses, e-mail addresses, etc.) is removed from the storage medium used before returning your old device. The deletion of all personal data is your responsibility.
  • Requesting an RMA Number from Meinberg
Meinberg Funkuhren GmbH & Co. KG provides its customers with the option of returning their purchased products to Meinberg's main office and having them disposed of free of charge.

An RMA number is required for the return, and can be obtained by telephone or by writing an email to the address recycling@meinberg.de.

In this case, the sender is required to bear the costs for the return delivery.
