SyncFire 1500 - The Future of High-Performance NTP Time Servers

Meinberg's next-generation high-end NTP server is here. Designed for hyperscale data center environments in which high volumes of NTP requests are anticipated, the SyncFire 1500 is capable of handling hundreds of thousands of requests per second while offering the customary stability and security of Meinberg's LANTIME OS.

The SyncFire 1500 can be shipped to order with Meinberg's GPS receiver or multi-GNSS "GNS" receiver, and is the first model of the SyncFire series to also be equippable with Oregano Systems' high-performance syn1588 PCI Express NIC for industry-leading PTP timeReceiver performance. This allows the SyncFire 1500 to be synchronized to any Stratum 0 GNSS time source or to a high-accuracy IEEE1588 PTP timeTransmitter clock for exemplary NTP server capacity. A redundant clock can also be fitted, allowing for example GNSS to be used as the primary reference with a PTP source serving as the redundant backup—or vice versa if so desired.

Shipped with four RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces as standard, the network connectivity can be expanded with an additional four RJ45 Gigabit interfaces or an additional two SFP+, SFP28, or QSFP+ interfaces for 10, 25, and 40 Gigabit Ethernet respectively, ensuring seamless integration with your network infrastructure.

Based on the Intel® M10JNP server platform, the SyncFire 1500 is equipped with a six-core Intel® Xeon E2276G CPU that provides tangible per-core performance increases over the SyncFire 1200—a comparison of the SyncFire 1200 and SyncFire 1500 under comparable conditions revealed that the SyncFire 1500 was able to handle 825,000 NTP requests per second from diverse IP addresses as against 750,000 NTP requests for the SyncFire 1200.

Meinberg’s tried-and-trusted LANTIME OS powers the SyncFire 1500 under the hood, providing access to all the security, network, and monitoring features that you could ever need from an enterprise-grade synchronization appliance, while Meinberg's internally developed multi-threaded NTP implementation allows the SyncFire 1500 to make optimum use of the processor's six-core architecture.
