Product Announcement: Meinberg adds WWVB Products to their Product Range

Today Meinberg announced the general availability of three new products which receive the WWVB long wave radio signal from Fort Collins, CO and synchronize computers or entire networks based on the US time signal that covers the United States and large parts of Canada and Central America. The USB radio clock WWVB51USB and the two NTP time server models LANTIME M200/WWVB and LANTIME M300/WWVB can be used as an alternative to GPS where a roof top antenna (which is required for reliable GPS reception) cannot be installed.

The WWVB time signal is broadcasted by a transmitter located in Fort Collins, Colorado on a 60 kHz frequency. The transmitter is operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the civil authority responsible for the official time base of the United States of America.

Besides the possibility to install a WWVB antenna inside a building, the new products can also be used to accompany a GPS solution as a second, independent source of stable and reliable time.

The Entry-Level NTP appliance LANTIME M200/WWVB is the ideal alternative for small and medium-sized computer networks when accurate time is a technical - or legal - requirement. It represents a perfect way to synchronize PCs, servers and workstations over a network connection without depending on an active Internet connection.

The LANTIME M300/WWVB is aimed at being deployed in highly specialized environments. With its two network interfaces (can be optionally ordered with up to 6 Ethernet interfaces) and a large collection of other time and frequency outputs it can be tailor-made to meet your demands.

The WWVB51USB radio clock is a perfect solution for mobile data acquisition applications because of its integrated antenna (an external antenna can be connected if required) and the fact that it is powered over the USB connection. Additionally, the clock can be used to synchronize the time of a PC or server whenever a network time server is not available or does not make sense (e.g. for standalone computer systems). The WWVB51USB is fully supported by the Meinberg drivers for Windows and Linux and can be accessed from within your own applications using the API function calls provided by the Meinberg SDK.
