Meinberg launches a fully Redundant Synchronization Solution!

Meinberg Radio Clocks a successful high technology company introduced today the GPS-RDMP, a fully redundant GPS-synchronized time and frequency reference for Digital Broadcasting and Demanding Applications.

The GPS-RDMP is a 1U/19 inch rack mount chassis which integrates two Meinberg GPS receivers, each with its own ultra stable oscillator providing excellent holdover performance and signal quality.

Down converters which are integrated in both Meinberg GPS Antenna Systems make cable runs up to 700m without amplification and with reliable robust signal reception characteristics possible. GPS Clock monitoring and control can be accomplished with the included appropriate software. A 10/100base-T Ethernet connection allows remote control and administration. TOD strings in various formats, firmware updates, local control and monitoring functionality are provided by 2 x RS-232 serial interfaces.

Furthermore the GPS-RDMP includes dual power supplies and provides 8 x PPS (Pulse Per Second) outputs and 8 x 10 MHz low phase noise sine wave outputs. The Meinberg SCU switchover logic ensures that the time and frequency synchronization signal generation from the two GPS receivers is automatically switched to the output connectors, based on the synchronization state of the receivers.

One characteristics of an effective network is redundancy. A -redundant- network is one that contains a wide balance of duplicated data, network equipment, connecting links, etc. that are able to function as backup in case of network or equipment failures. The primary purpose of having servers configured for redundancy is to avoid connection or data loss due to any single point of failure in the network.
