Precision Timing Solutions for Bombay Stock Exchange Provided by Meinberg

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is using Meinberg PTP time servers for time synchronization of all the trade transactions. -The BSE is the first stock exchange in India to implement this solution-

Bad Pyrmont, November 20, 2015 - Meinberg, manufacturer of the world's most powerful time and frequency synchronization equipment, is happy to announce that the BSE is using Meinberg units to implement precision timing.

The BSE recently announced the implementation of the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) to its platform and that it has started the extension of PTP to all the members, trading from its co-location facility.

Due to the fact that exchanges across the globe are slowly migrating to PTP, since the Network time Protocol (NTP) is no more a suitable framework for today's ultra-low latency trading platforms, the BSE becomes the first stock exchange in India to use PTP. The Precision Time Protocol enables time synchronization in the range of nano seconds, helping the exchange to leverage the accuracy in all its time stamps.

Meinberg's synchronization systems include a highly stable internal oscillator that bridges periods of interference or temporary loss of GPS signal reception. This guarantees high accuracy and a stable and robust service at any time. The modular approach of the Intelligent Modular Synchronization (IMS) platform allows field replacement and hot-swap capabilities for IO modules and power supplies. This concept ensures future-proofness and expandability by allowing to add or replace modules, when new technologies or interfaces are required and makes this product one of the most flexible and scalable synchronization solutions on the market.

About BSE

BSE is the world's largest exchange in terms of number of listed companies, which stands tall at 5772. Earlier last year in 2014, BSE launched its equity trading platform software 'BOLT Plus'. The BSE trading system (Bolt Plus) is based on T7, the global trading architecture of Deutsche Bourse AG. One of the key features of the system is its response time of approximately 200 micro seconds, making it the fastest trading platform in the country. BSE's new technology, which is open source and low cost can handle 5 lakh orders per second. BSE has also gained significant leadership in segments like BSE SME platform, BSE STAR MF, currency Derivatives, IRF, etc.
