New Fiber Optic Antenna System for Meinberg DCF77 based Radio Clocks

After the great success of the GOAL - GPS Optical Antenna Link, Meinberg now announces a similiar product for DCF77 based radio clock systems. The new DOAL (DCF77 Optical Antenna Link) can substitute a coaxial antenna cable of any Meinberg DCF77/PZF product.

This kind of connection provides several advantages:
  • larger antenna cable distances (the distance between antenna and receiver can be up to 2000m with this system)
  • no destructive overvoltage via the antenna cable
  • no unintentional monitoring via optical fiber
The receiver-side module DOAL/R is supplied by the receiver via the antenna cable, therefore an external power supply is not necessary. The module DOAL/A requires an external supply of 100-240V/50-60Hz for operating and feeding the antenna.

The DOAL system is suitable for all Meinberg DCF77 radio clocks, even upgrading existing installations is possible. This includes the correlation receivers PZF509/510 and the PZF-based NTP time server LANTIME/PZF.

Additionally, it is possible to completely decouple the antennas of combination receivers (like Lantime/SHS) in combination with the GPS Optical Antenna Link Set (GOAL) .

DOAL will be available at the end of the first quarter '06.
