Meinberg presents the newest Sync Solutions for Pro-Audio and -Video Applications at the IBC2014 in Amsterdam

Meinberg will be showcasing at the IBC2014, supporting the RAVENNA technology with its brand new IMS technology and Altera/Oregano with the newly supported PTP Profile "SMPTE ST 2059-2".

Bad Pyrmont, September 9th, 2014 - Meinberg, one of the world's leading manufacturers of time and frequency synchronization equipment, will be presenting its newest IMS (Intelligent Modular System) technology in combination with the RAVENNA real-time audio distribution solution at the IBC2014 in Amsterdam.

The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) is Europe's most important event for everyone engaged in creating, managing and delivering the future of electronic media, entertainment technology and content. It takes place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from September 12th to September 16th, 2014.

RAVENNA, developed by the ALC NetworX Company, is a solution for real-time distribution of audio and media content in IP-based network environments utilizing standardized network protocols and technologies. RAVENNA can operate on existing network infrastructures and is designed to meet strict requirements of the pro audio market featuring low latency, full signal transparency and high reliability.

To fulfill these requirements with highly precise timing, RAVENNA is now being supported by Meinberg's recently introduced IMS solution, the LANTIME M3000. By employing Meinberg's M3000 it is possible to combine both GPS-referenced time distribution through PTP/IEEE 1588 and studio-quality master clock generation such as AES Word Clock or Video GenLock (Blackburst etc.). The modular nature of Meinberg's IMS platform allows to combine both network and standard synchronization technology in one single device.

Heiko Gerstung, Managing Director of Meinberg: "RAVENNA is a perfect example of an open standard that is clearly designed to help the end-users, not the industry. The openness and utilization of modern, innovative technology and concepts is what matches our own idea of how standards should be designed. And we are very happy to be a part of it now. This underlines Meinberg's commitment to deliver high-end synchronization solutions to a large variety of markets."

The M3000, a 3U rackmount system, is the first product in Meinberg's new IMS series, offering built-in redundancy for synchronization sources, power supplies and cooling in combination with a highly modular slot based chassis supporting hot-swapping and future-proof field-expansion capabilities for scalability.

Andreas Hildebrand, Senior Product Manager of ALC NetworX, adds: "We are pleased of the growing interest in RAVENNA from companies providing secondary or infrastructure gear necessary to operate a RAVENNA real-time media network with utmost precision. Specifically Meinberg, not only known for their reliable, highest precision timing devices engineered in Germany, but also for being a main contributor to the ongoing IEEE1588 standardization activities, is a very valuable partner for the RAVENNA community. While relying on the service of a Meinberg LANTIME M600 in our R&D labs for years now, we are delighted on the announcement of the new IMS platform, providing ultra-versatile configuration possibilities, including the option of combining high-precision media clock generation and PTP time distribution within one device."

The M3000 will be on display at the ALC NetworX RAVENNA booth in the foyer of Hall 8 (8.F57).

Additionally, the M3000 and the new PTP Profile "SMPTE ST 2059-2", aimed at professional IP based video applications, will be shown at the Altera Europe LTD booth in cooperation with Oregano Systems at Hall 1, stand 13 (1.F13).
