Meinberg GLN180PEX PCIe card - GPS/GLONASS based Time Synchronization for Servers and Mobile Appliances

Meinberg's new GLN180PEX card with integrated GPS/GLONASS receiver provides accurate time with ultimate precision both in stationary and mobile environments by supporting standard L1 antennae.

The highlights of the new PCI-Express card:
  • The GLN180PEX unit has a special onboard receiver which is able to capture both GPS and GLONASS signals. Optionally, it is possible to limit the receiver to using only GPS or ony GLONASS signals.
  • The GLN180PEX offers satellite based time synchronization at the highest accuracy standards for fixed or mobile applications. It is suitable to be deployed in servers or desktop PCs which are installed either in data centers or on board of cars, trucks, aircrafts, ships and other moving platforms. The satellite receiver can determine its position even at a maximum acceleration of up to 5 g, at a maximum speed of 500m/s and at an altitude of up to 18,000 meters.
  • Standard delivery includes a 40 dB GPS L1/GLONASS L1 antenna. The antenna with an integrated over-voltage protection operates in a frequency range of 1575.42 +-10 MHz and 1602-1615 MHz.
  • The status info is shown by 4 multi-color LEDs. The 4 status lights indicate:
Init - blue: while the receiver passes through the initialization phase
Nav Solved - green: positioning successfully
Ant Fail - red: antenna faulty or not connected
Fail - red: time is not synchronized.

Like the other Meinberg PCIe cards GPS180PEX and PZF180PEX, the GLN180PEX with its low profile form factor offers greater flexibility in desktop and server environments. It can be mounted for example in computers with smaller housing (e.g. 1U). The GLN180PEX is being supported by the current version of Meinberg's driver kits for Windows, Linux and other operating systems; the driver kits are available for free and are regularly updated on our webpage.

The rear slot cover contains an SMA antenna connector, a BNC connector for modulated time codes, a 9pin D-SUB male connector and four status LEDs. A D-SUB connector on a standard full-profile bracket is used for I/O signals like RS-232 – PPS, PPM and DCLS time codes but also for firmware updates.

The GLN board can be used in mobile environments like cars, trains and airplanes. An optimized active GPS antenna in smaller size RV-76 is also available.
