Announcing the Meinberg IMS-GXL183 – The Top-End GNSS Clock for High-Security Applications

Meinberg is pleased to announce the new IMS-GXL183: the perfect multi-band GNSS receiver and clock module solution for security-critical applications with an impressive suite of anti-spoofing and anti-jamming features.

Engineered by Meinberg's experts using the mosaic-T GNSS receiver module from Meinberg partner Septentrio, the IMS-GXL183 leverages not only the mosaic-T's numerous internal anti-spoofing features but also its support for the AtomiChron® service operated by Dutch geo-data specialists Fugro for the external validation and authentication of incoming GNSS messages for optimum security.

With comprehensive GPS (L1 C/A, L1PY, L2C, L2PY, L5, also QZSS L1 C/A, L2C, L5), Galileo (E1-B/C, E5b, E6-B/C), BeiDou (B1I, B1C, B2a, B2I, B3I), and GLONASS support (L1OF FDMA, L2OF, L3OC) enabled by a powerful 448-channel GNSS receiver, the IMS-GXL183 can maintain a perpetual lock on every satellite in view to optimize satellite acquisition times and minimize the time needed to achieve or recover synchronization.

IMS-GXL183

The IMS-GXL183 represents the top end of Meinberg's range of products, designed first and foremost for critical, highly sensitive applications in which spoofing is a very real and potentially dangerous threat. Support for the newly-launched Galileo OSNMA mechanism, which allows for authentication of Galileo navigation messages and which Meinberg is one of the very first to support. Robust heuristic spoofing detection in which navigation message consistency and continuity is analyzed internally. And of course, the use of such a wide range of GNSS services on a wide band of different frequencies, itself an effective means against spoofing and narrowband jamming.

One of the IMS-GXL183's most groundbreaking and noteworthy security features is its support for Dutch geo-data specialist's Fugro's AtomiChron® service. AtomiChron® provides multiple levels of authentication for GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, and GLONASS navigation messages using external data provided via Inmarsat. This data is generated by Fugro's numerous ground stations around the world that collate and compare GNSS data before transmitting it to the Inmarsat service to be forwarded to AtomiChron® subscriber devices. And to ensure that you are convinced of the benefits of AtomiChron®, Meinberg is providing a six-month subscription to the AtomiChron® service for free, worth several hundred dollars, with the purchase of each IMS-GXL183 module.

This comprehensive suite of innovative security features is in addition to the established anti-spoofing features—such as IRSA—already provided by Meinberg at the software level in its LANTIME OS operating system. All of this combines to form a very strong multi-layered protection for GNSS-based synchronization.

The module will be shipped as standard with the Meinberg Multi-Band GNSS Antenna, which provides full feature support and the best performance for your new IMS-GXL183.
