Product Announcement: The New Time Code Receiver Generation

Meinberg's Time Code Receiver (TCR) product family has been designed to receive, decode and generate time code signals.The next generation of Meinberg time code receivers provides many new features and now also supports IRIG-G time codes.

Bad Pyrmont, February 6, 2017 - Meinberg, manufacturer of the world's most effiecient time and frequeny synchronization equipment, announces the brand new time code receiver module TCR180 for IMS systems and the PCI Express slot cards TCR180PEX and TCR180PEX-EL for computers.

The TCR180PEX card receives, decodes and generates modulated (AM) and unmodulated (DC level shift, DCLS) IRIG-A/B/G, AFNOR NF S87-500, IEEE C37.118 or IEEE 1344 time codes. Just like its predecessor, the TCR170PEX, it can be used for synchronizing the system time of its host PC and is used in applications like data acquisition, standalone computer time synchronization (for systems without a network connection or higher accuracy requirements) or as a time code converter device. The TCR170PEX is replaced by the new TCR180PEX, but will still be available for the next 6 months.

The TCR180PEX-EL is the entry-level version of the TCR180PEX and does not provide a time code generator function, but is able to receive and decode IRIG-A/B/G, AFNOR NF S87-500, IEEE C37.118 or IEEE 1344 time codes for synchronization of computers and networks. This PCI Express time code slot card can be used in both low profile and regular PCIe slots. Compared to its predecessor, the TCR511PEX, the TCR180PEX-EL provides additional features and is at the same time very cost-efficient. The TCR511PEX, which is replaced by the TCR180PEX-EL, will still be available for the next 6 months.

The TCR180 IMS module is able to receive and generate IRIG-A/B/G, AFNOR NF S87-500, IEEE C37.118 or IEEE 1344 time codes and provides the same features as the TCR180PEX. This time code receiver and generator module is compatible with Meinberg's Intelligent Modular Synchronization (IMS) platform, which is famous for its high level of scalability, flexibility, versatility and reliability. The modular design of Meinberg's IMS systems allows features like field-replacement and hot-swap capabilities for I/O and power supply modules. This concept ensures future-proofness and expandability by allowing to add or replace modules when new technologies or interfaces are required.

End of Life Announcement of TCR-PCI Slot Cards
Another change to the Meinberg time code receiver product family is the end of life announcement of the PCI slot cards TCR511PCI (still available for 6 months) and TCR167PCI (still available for 12 months). There will be no replacement time code receiver card for PCI slots.
